I took this idea from MJ I hope she doesn't mind! *Don't worry I told her I was doing it... and if she does mind I will remove this post*
MJ recently did a post titled "Updating My Resume" where she listed the The Top Ten Reasons To Hire Me That I Can't Put On My Resume. I thought it would be fun if I did the same and forwarded it to others... here we go;
10. Function very well under stress.
9. Do not need sick days... I am not allowed to get sick.
8. Can manage several hectic schedules with ease. (Or at least make it look easy.)
7. Cater to every individuals meal plans without complaint, (out loud).
6. Can change a diaper anywhere *even standing* in less than 30 seconds.
5. Can spot dangerous situations a mile away, and fix them before anyone else notices.
4. Am able to complete projects on time even when learning they exist at bedtime.
3. Great with improvisation and few tools to do such.
2. Know the answer every time I am asked, "Why?" (google assisted).
1. Have no problems focusing on the task at hand with background screaming, yelling, crying, fussing, and complaining repeatedly while calling my name.
Okay... so now I would love to be able to see this list from a couple people... I think they would do a good job on it so maybe they will do it...
Maybe...
The Obnoxious SAHM
Faker
I feel like I am at a crossroads in life. I have been desperately trying to find a job, went on countless interviews, lord only knows how many people have seen my resume. Everyone I speak to says they are impressed with my resume... it only leaves me to wonder why won't they hire me?? I have NEVER had this problem before. I have always been able to find work. Why can't I now??? What did I do wrong? I know I didn't screw up EVERY interview!
Lee tells me to take it as a sign from God that there is something better waiting for me.... but that's a difficult sale right now. I know the economy is tough right now, but I thought nurses were in demand?!? I have tried to tell myself that it's just because the economy is still on the downturn... and people have lost jobs so they've lost health insurance.... it's all just a domino effect. I've really tried to tell myself that; but it's hard.
Yesterday Lee suggested I go and work for a daycare again. Honestly, I don't want to do that again. Having children 17 on one is hard and not worth $8/hour. At first he said he understood but then he contradicted himself and told me to apply. When I didn't apply he got mad at me... and it really got me upset. I Just don't want to have to do that again, I can handle the kids a couple at a time but not that many at once. I swear they all find your weak spots and exploit them (at the same time).
I do have an opportunity that I'm hoping will pan out... but I don't want to get my hopes up about it so I'm not going to even mention what it is right now. Maybe soon something will come along.... maybe.
The interview went... um, well I'm not really sure. It was the quickest interview I've ever been on, I swear to you five minutes would have been pushing it. I waited longer than we spoke.
I was sitting in the waiting room when Dr. Johnastin comes up to me and introduces herself. I introduce myself and we shake hands. She walks me back to her office and asks me a couple of questions about my resume. I answer them, then she asks, "What would your previous employer have to say about you?" "They would probably say that I didn't miss any days and let them know in advance of any time off I needed." I told Dr. Johnastin "However, I'm not sure if they would say that I would be considered for rehire because after my maternity leave (they already know I have kids after all it is the same office my children go to) was over I tried to call them but no one would ever return my calls." The Dr. gives me this peculiar look. I then told her that I didn't know exactly why they would not call me back, but she can call them if they like.
The Dr. stands up shakes my hand and tells me that they would like to call a few of my previous employers, and payroll decides what I would make. I stood there kind of puzzled by her sentence.... She hands me a business card and tells me to call them if I have not heard from someone by Monday. The Dr. then leads me out the back door which leads to a hallway. She points to the elevators and closes the door behind me.
I don't know how to interpret her behavior.... I honestly can't decipher if it was a good interview or not.
Today is my Mother's birthday! Yup she turns *well I can't tell you that, it's just rude*. But I am going to make her a cake today! Since her birthday is on St. Patrick's Day, I will of course be adding some green to her cake. Oh and just to prove my Grandmother had a sense of humor; she named my mother Patti. :D My Mom plans on picking up Angel today and taking her to a matinee, I think they both will enjoy that.
Other than making a cake today my plans are pretty much nonexistent. I may go to the Dr. though, I've got a nasty little sinus infection that has kept me up the past two nights.
Oh I almost forgot to mention, I had a job interview yesterday (for a nursing position at the pediatrician's office)... It went really well, and I was asked to come back for a second interview with a Dr. on Wednesday. So maybe I will soon have a job!! YEA!!!
I must once again thank my best friend Christina for watching my girls yesterday while I went on the interview. She is the best friend ever!
Okay... so I know my thoughts are kind of all over the place today, but I feel like poo. Maybe I'll get on here later and edit it... then again... it's already posted.... so maybe not...
Yup I totally screwed up an interview! It's okay though, once I found out the job was commission only, I wasn't really interested.
I was sitting in this high rise office talking with a quite handsome but intimidating man in a suit. I was dressed in a suit myself, but felt quite naked without a desk in front of me. We begin speaking and discussing the business. It was a marketing company that did, "presentations". I was unable to find a lot of information out about this company on the Internet so I was hoping for the best and ended up somewhere else.
He asked me how I would market a service for small business owners. I of course mentioned television, radio and bill boards. He then asked me if I would use door to door sales. I said no, so he asked why. *Now I wish I would have just shut my mouth* I told him I didn't think that would be the most effective form. Then he asked me why.... and I had to open my big fat mouth. I told him that most people I know would find that irritating. *Boy was my face red* He quickly informs me that this business basically does door to door sales for businesses. * I swear I just wanted to jump out that plate glass window* I was mortified. I turned the interview around though by apologizing and telling him that, "I stand corrected." On the up side he did ask me to come back for a meet and greet with the VP and the team I would be working with. I will not be going back though.
Hey it's me again!
Sorry I haven't been blogging alot lately, I've been sooooo friggin busy.
Today I have 2 interviews, pest control is coming over this morning, Lee has seminar to attend, and we have a parent-teacher conference at 2:15. Like I said sooooo friggin busy.
Any way I just wanted to say hey and I'll let you know how the inerviews go. Wish Me Luck!

That's my dilemma....
Stay at home vs. Go to work
I am at a crossroads. On one hand I can stay at home with my children and make those two little lives the focus of my life. On the other hand I can go to work, put them in daycare and help my husband pay off all of our bills.
I know that being a SAHM has it's amazing benefits and isolating downfalls. I still feel like I am missing something though. I asked Angel what she though about it all;
"Angel? Do you remember when mommy worked?"
"Yes, Mommy."
"Okay, well... do you like it better now that mom is home all the time or when mommy worked?"
"I like you home."
"Why?"
"Because I get more mommy time and you make dinner a lot."
"What do you think about Mommy going back to work?"
"I don't want Renee in daycare away from me."
Now how sweet is that? I feel guilty wanting to go back to work when she says things like that. I've thought about just working part time (maybe a couple days a week) and maybe that could be the compromise.
Right now I'm not sure what I want. I just want something different.
I'm just here for the ride.
I tend to feel this way daily. My life is filled with errands the family business and chores. I need a job. My hubby and I have been arguing more and more about money. Mainly because I feel like I have a say in any of it. He does not seem to understand how vunerable I feel without a job. Don't get me wrong I love my girls and spending time with them means more to me than any job ever could. I just need something outside of wife and mommy. I've been looking at part time jobs. I have my nursing degree, but everyone I talk with wants me to work full time, but I can't do that and still give my children the time they deserve. So I've been looking into banking jobs. Maybe a teller or something.... I don't know.
All I do know is that I really need to be able to step out of this house for work.
